We had a fantastic stay at Dancing Horse Farm, despite some wild weather, because Greg went the extra mile.
The house is perfect for a large group. The Kitchen/Living Room area is large and open, so our group could be together in one place, even during a rainy day. The deck, patio, and game room gave us room to expand without feeling separated. And there were plenty of sleeping spots and bathrooms, so everyone was comfortable.
Unfortunately, we lost power during our stay due to the effects of Hurricane Debby, and it didn't come back on for 24 hours (which was unusual for the area). It was particularly problematic because the property's water comes from a well with an electric pump.
Our host, Greg, went above and beyond to make us comfortable. He'd already stocked the house with candles, flashlights, and spare batteries, and directed us toward them as soon as the power went out. Then he bought a generator, drove it up to the house, and spent most of his day Saturday installing it, connecting extension cords in the meantime so we could charge phones. He brought coolers and ice for our perishables and 5gal buckets so we could flush the toilets with water from the stream. Our group has rented a dozen plus properties for our annual weekend, and I can honestly say we've never had a host as attentive, generous, and upstanding as Greg.
Now that the house has a backup generator, power outages won't be a concern, but our situation proved that Greg is a top notch host!
