“A stunning place! The bar/restaurant and pool area are truly breathtaking and have been done to a very high standard. The staff were all fantastic and the food was generally good. There is lots to explore locally including the free waterfalls you can access from the hotel, a bigger waterfall further down the hill which id definitely recommend and Marino Ballena National park. “Sympathetically designed hotel giving excellent accommodation coupled with wonderfully maintained garden areas which were full of wildlife. Convenient for Puerto Jimenez airport and town. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great night tours, fishing trips which set off from private jetty were very popular and that was also a great place for a sundowner!”

“Superb property up on the Uvita mountains. As long as you have a 4x4, getting there is a fun ride. Staff was great and the spa facilities are really nice. The only thing keeping me from returning for a whole remote work week is the internet speed. It was spotty and not reliable for a prolonged work stay.”

“Overall a very nice hotel. Great views from the lounge area. Great drinks at reasonable prices. Two negatives, really bad smell in our bathroom and the waitors in the restaurant was TOO attentive, we didn't get a chance to eat they came to the table every second minute to check if everything was okay ( which aside for them asking all the time, it was).”

“Playa Cativo Lodge is a wonderful place and the accommodations, food and staff were absolutely perfect. It was nice to be so close to the gulf which was calm, warm, sandy and perfect for swimming. My only complaint was that the entire front area of the lodge has been landscaped with grass and ornamental plants, many of which are not native. Because of this large open area few birds or animals come near the lodge. Bird watching was disappointing compared to lodges that have left the rainforest...

“Amazing location, private and secluded. Great tents/rooms. Be prepared however that the rooms dont have electricity or Wi-Fi so bring torch, books and Good company :) Some improvements Could be Done regarding the food quality. We had dinner once during our stay (bring snacks!), and it was not so tasty and We expected a bit more cause everything else is so amazing. The night We skipped dinner the staff came to our room and asked Why We are not at the dinner area so it felt a little pushy to eat...
