Unpleasant Check-In and Breakfast Experience
I recently stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton San Diego Downtown, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The check-in process was needlessly stressful due to a communication issue with the staff. Despite having booked a room for four people, the receptionist insisted it was only for two. When I tried to show my booking confirmation, she refused to look at it, causing unnecessary tension.
The breakfast experience was equally disappointing. The waiter insisted that we could only order the American breakfast because the chef was too busy, promising a 30-minute wait for any other options. Strangely, our friends, who ordered differently, received their meals within five minutes. The waiter failed to communicate that even within the American breakfast, there were choices for eggs and other components.
Adding to the frustration, the waiter explicitly mentioned the expectation of tips without providing a service that warranted it.
Overall, the check-in process and breakfast experience significantly detracted from the enjoyment of our stay. I hope the management addresses these issues to ensure a more pleasant stay for future guests.
