The property was nice, clean, good layout, spacious, etc. However, we never had any WiFi and had multiple calls with the Vacasa representative and local property manager and no one solved the problem. Had a very weak cellular signal so had to limp along with that using a hotspot through the phone cellular to get work done, which will cost us $$ as we burned through our ATT data plan. The Vacasa representative responded to all my communications but could not do anything to help us. The local property manager acted like they were trying to help but never followed up and didn’t solve the problem. In addition the garage code didn’t work and luckily they had a lock box with key so we could manually operate the garage door. But seriously, seems like the housekeeping staff should be checking that everything is working properly and if not report it the manager before the next guest arrives so that it can be fixed.
As far as the location from the mountain, it’s a good location and Government camp has a few restaurants and a general store so it’s easy to go out for a meal and get things you need. The ski areas are just ok - Ski Bowl was not open during the day mid-week (only night skiing) so we went to Timberline which has mostly beginner and intermediate terrain. Given that Timberline (which is higher elevation than Mt Hood Ski Bowl) was right at the snow line, and in fact, was mostly just pouring rain (in mid-January) we opted to ski only 2 days of the 4 days we were there. The amenities included Netflix, Amazon Prime and some TV, but no Sports channels.
All in all the property was good but the lack of internet was really an inconvenience.
