Cottage by the East Lyn River i hjärtat av Exmoor National Park nära Lynmouth

Stugan ligger på den soliga stranden av pittoreska East Lyn floden vid Rockford i den vackra Brendon Valley of Lorna Doone berömmelse. Belägen på National Trust mark av vackra Waters Estate, är Rockford Lodge kontaktats av en gångbro och ligger fridfullt i en skog från all trafik. Den spektakulära kusten i North Devon ligger i närheten med Lynton och Lynmouth bara fyra miles away. Från grinden floden, hedar och kustnära promenader i överflöd och den omgivande landsbygden är en fröjd för naturforskaren, landet älskare och fotograf. Lax och öringsfiske finns på East Lyn och det är utmärkt ridning i närheten.

Stugan har 3 bekväma stora sovrum, 2 dubbelrum och 1 dubbel ett stort badrum med separat dusch samt en extra loo. Nedre våningen finns gott om livsutrymme. I vardagsrummet finns en öppen spis för de kallare månaderna plus det finns en stor matsal / TV-rum. Gården Köket har en frukostbordet och hålls vackert varm från AGA. Det finns också en fantastisk utsikt över floden Rum med utsikt över East Lyn River, den perfekta platsen att njuta av ett glas vin! Det finns en sluttning trädgård med en sommarstuga (solstolar tillhandahålls) samt en privat trädgård. Bord och stolar plus en grill finns.

Cozy and magical house!
We had a fabulous time at the Lodge! This house is a gem... like walking into the country place you wish your family had had when you were growing up! Our family (myself, my husband, 2 teenagers and a small dog) had such a magical stay for one week of the Easter break. We love how so many of the details and history of the lodge have been preserved, and we felt very at home right away. Walking over the footbridge to the property, waking up and walking out straight onto the river bank, going to sleep with the lovely warm blankets listening to the river... we all felt so comfortable and at home. Being able to walk straight out to the trail (definitely walk to Watersmeet!) and nip across the river for a beverage at the lovely Rockford Inn was exactly what we needed, and the coast and all it has to offer is just a short drive away. We can't wait to come back in the summer so we can take a dip in the river and hit the water at some of the local beaches. Thank you, Lucy, for a lovely stay!

Perfect as always
Not stayed for a while but we’re so glad nothing had changed. Been visiting since 2004 and cannot fault the Cottage, always had an amazing time with family and friends who have all loved it The Rockford Inn has been up and down over the years but at present it’s the best it has ever been, great food and service. Beautiful location
The lodge was well equipped and in a beautiful, quiet location. The car parking arrangement was not ideal but understandable given the location and certainly not a deal breaker. We enjoyed our stay and certainly had everything we needed for a comfortable week in the lodge.

In a valley
Set in a valley the property was peaceful while not seeming completely isolated. Wonderful walk along the riverbank in both directions. Short drive from Lynton and the breah-taking clifftop walk to Valley of Rocks. Highlight was watching the cattle drive across the ford which passed within feet of the riverview room. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

Can't wait to go back
This is such a lovely place. We felt like we were in a fairy tale, nestled in the woods and listening to the stream running by. The host was responsive to our messages and helpful. I hope we get to go back--but for longer the next time. (The stairs up to the bedrooms and bathroom were fine for us but I could see how they might be too narrow and steep for some with less mobility.) Overall, it was a great holiday and perfect location.

Anniversary Weekend
The cottage is perfectly situated for those who enjoy plenty of different walks directly from the front door. It’s in a lovely spot right by the river, very peaceful and relaxing. …and great for dogs. The cottage is well appointed with everything you need for your stay. We were only there for 2 nights but would like to have stayed longer and hope to go back.

Peace and tranquility by a beautiful river
This is a wonderful property that is both comfortable and extremely well looked after. What makes this house so special is that it is clearly a much loved home. It is a privilege to enjoy such beautiful accommodation in a wonderful location. Fabulous walks, great pub nearby and always the sound of bird song. We very much look forward to coming back soon.

A beautiful lodge but hard on the legs
The lodge and the setting are lovely, there is everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Fishing rods, walking equipment, toys, games, books, washing machine, iron, I could go on. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spacious. There is a secure garden which was great as we took our dog. The river is 10 steps away from the gate which was perfect for cooling off and fishing. The downside was the hills. We knew we could not park at the lodge, the car park is about 200 yards away but up a very steep hill. My husband has a Lung and heart condition and we ended up leaving early because he physically could not carry on with the terrain. All the pubs in the local area were closed and the nearest shop was a good 15 minute drive along narrow, steep roads. Whilst we enjoyed our time there, we would not book again due to the severity of the hills and no phone signal at all.

Perfect little hideaway
The most gorgeous cottage - so warm and cosy and comfortable. Really spacious, easy to find with the instructions. So relaxing listening to the sounds of the river while going to sleep. A great place to unwind and perfectly situated for beautiful walks and close proximity to local landmarks. We enjoyed every second of our stay and wish we’d had longer! Host was very accommodating and friendly!

Relaxing stay
We had a fabulous couple of days at Rockford Lodge celebrating my daughters 22nd birthday. The cottage is perfect for getting away from it all. It is right on the Coleridge Way so walks for the dog are literally on the doorstep. Lovely cosy cottage with plenty of space to spread out. Will definitely be returning.

Perfect and Timeless
This is a place where time has stood still. A homely cottage by a river reached by a footbridge across which you wheelbarrow your belongings and food. Walks from the door into woods and adventure. We were there in the Autumn and although rain and darkness greeted us on arrival and heightened the adventure of getting to the front door, the morning showed us what a wonderful destination we had come to. The pub opposite was most welcoming for our arrival dinner - the rest of the time we walked, talked and enjoyed all that was on offer. A special place. Waterfalls, water, woods and wildlife - heaven.

Lovely relaxing stay with good food, good walks and much laughter.
The property is lovely, really cosy and comfortable. It’s very well equipped and I really enjoyed using the aga! We had a great family time here, hot water was plentiful, the WiFi was good and there were plenty of board games to keep us amused. All in all, a lovely place to stay.
