Disappointing Stay at Villa del Palmar – I Wouldn’t Recommend It
I’m writing this review because I said I would—and when I told the manager that, his exact response was that he didn’t care. So I’m keeping my word.
My stay at Villa del Palmar in Cabo San Lucas was one of the most disappointing resort experiences I’ve ever had. We arrived a day late due to a canceled flight—something completely out of our control. Even though we paid for that missed night, we were still made to wait until the regular 3 PM check-in time. There was no flexibility, no empathy, and no attempt to make things right.
When I spoke to the manager, I calmly explained our situation and asked for a private conversation to see if anything could be done. He said the hotel would call me with options—but no one ever did. Instead, they deactivated our room key and made us “check in” again for the last night, which I had to pay for again at over $500. This extra charge didn’t even include the all-inclusive package I had already purchased.
What hurt the most was how I was treated when I got emotional. I wasn’t yelling or causing a scene—I was just clearly upset. That’s when the manager raised his voice at me and said, “If you don’t like it, you can check out now.”
The rooms were clean, but the resort feels old—the smell, the furniture, the whole atmosphere. Nothing about it felt fresh or relaxing.
All in all, this stay was stressful, disappointing, and nothing like the warm, welcoming experiences I’ve had i
