“Had a call day before to ask what time we was checking in and give us useful information about the area and what to do. Lady at check in was super nice gave us more tips on the area. Room was warm and clean when arrived. Had kettle and microwave and a mini fridge, no cutlery or plates but that was fine with us. If walking down to the town, it is a very steep hill and takes 15 minutes for the unfit lol. Overall good stay and would stay again. ”

“Good welcome, room was lovely and warm and bedding clean and plenty of pillows and spotlessly clean towels. Nice touch of biscuits and chocolate. Great location and good price. Sadly there were signs of mould around the door and bathroom tiling could do with a more intense cleaning of the grout as orange/yellow build up, plus I shared the bathroom with two very large spiders that were well established as had webs in corners. Having said this, I would use the Wellington again as really convenient...

“This is a lovely friendly pub with excellent staff. The locals were welcoming as well. The beer brewed on the premises was excellent as was the food. I can't fault our stay there. Plenty of parking at the pub now, with a new car park. Handy travel time to Critch, Matlock and the Peak District. Located on the side of a steep hill, so walking anywhere is a good bit of exercise!”

Everyone went out of their way to be kind and helpful, even helping when our plans to tour local sites got messed up by a very heavy winter storm that caused power outages. “Really lovely nights stay in the Curzon Room. High ceilings, big comfy bed, well equipped and spacious. Bathroom had a lovely roll top bath and powerful rainfall shower.
