Paradise Retreat, POOL, Hot Tub and AC with ECO energy!

Paradise Retreat is your own private resort on Hawai'i’s Big Island. Relax and enjoy the swimming pool and hot tub in our private, fully enclosed back yard. Lounge poolside in the sun-soaked chaise chairs or stay cool on the covered lanai. In the evenings, enjoy starry nights and listen for the waves crashing just a few blocks away.

The home is designed to collect the island trade-winds and naturally cool the interior, especially during the evening hours with the A/C off and the windows open. Our A/C systems efficiently cools the home during warm days, if necessary, using only solar during the day-light hours.

Our home has been recently updated, is fully furnished and stocked with linens, pool towels and all the kitchen items you'll need for cooking your favorite meals. Water from our well is filtered and UV-treated before entering the home.

Paradise Retreat has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The main bedroom suite has a king-sized bed, en-suite bathroom with slate tiled shower AND jetted bathtub. The two additional bedrooms share a bathroom with a bathtub and shower. One of these bedrooms has a queen size bed and the other has two twin beds. The third bathroom is in the large laundry room. We provide a washer and dryer for laundry and a starter supply of laundry strips to avoid large plastic detergent jugs.

Located in Keaau just south of Hilo, Paradise Retreat is in a great place for day trips to Volcanoes National Park, Hilo, Pahoa and the heritage Hamakua Coast. Let us point you in the right direction for adventures, cultural sites and ocean activities. Our neighborhood is quiet at night except for the mesmerizing Coqui frogs. Please respect quiet hours 9pm to 8am by keeping noise levels low. If you can’t hear the Coqui’s, it’s too loud. Mahalo nui loa for your green choices, respecting our home, our neighbors and our Island. E Komo Mai!

Paradise Retreat is an eco-friendly get-away and leaves a small carbon footprint on our beautiful island.

Wonder home near Hilo
Fantastic property! Fully stocked with everything you need. Clean, comfortable, beautifully landscaped with a wonderful pool and hot tub. We were almost tempted to stay on the property the entire time we were on the big island. Close to Hilo, Volcanoes National Park, black sand beaches and waterfalls. The Paradise cliffs are just a few blocks away, and a wonderful place to watch the sunrise every morning. Property manager was responsive and available, They even mailed us a pair of eyeglasses that got left accidentally. Would definitely stay here again!

Great space and amenities
Property was as wonderful as the pictures show. It was great to have space to spread out and be together. The family loved having the pool and the big yard to play in as well as the hot tub. The kitchen was well stocked for at-home meals. The only slight drawback is that there was the AC didn’t extend to the two smaller bedrooms so they got quite warm/humid for sleeping.

Beautiful grounds.
A perfect home for a family of four. We split our Big island vacations in two, with our Hilo stay being all about relaxing at home, by the pool w home cooked meals. This is house is perfect for that. Half an hour away from groceries and restaurants, if needed. The pool is pretty chilly-which is great on sunny days, unfortunately we hit a rainy week so we couldn’t enjoy it to its full potential, however the tub worked wonders. Our youngest is a very strong swimmer and our oldest is a teen, so the pool size and depth was perfect for us. The neighborhood is very quiet and private. The neighbors we happened to see were all very friendly. The landscaping provides excellent privacy. A review mentioned a dog barking, and he does but it’s a small pup and it’s not an annoying bark. I heard the wild fowl more than the dog. If you love the Hilo area, this is a great spot. Only suggestion would be a lock on the gate but it’s probably unnecessary. I enjoyed the walking the grounds w my little one. It was fun.

Seclusion
Very much enjoyed our two week stay in this house. Very secluded and quiet. The geckos at night chirping was so loud and enjoyable. The grounds of the house are so beautiful. Only issue was there is no rail on the pool. Made it difficult for my wife to get in and out of the pool. Enjoyed all the local small restaurants and we also cooked too. Made for a very memorable family trip.

Wonderful Property
This is a fantastic home. Very comfortable. The outside pool area is really relaxing. Kitchen is well stocked, beds and sofas are comfortable. Private setting with beautiful landscaping. We would definitely stay here again.

Paradise Indeed!
The property was clean and well-maintained. The outdoor space was a true highlight, and we spent most of our time outside! The pool, lanai, lawn, and tropical plants created an ideal lounge space in paradise. The house is stocked with kitchen gadgets, linens, puzzles, games, pool toys, and lawn games. There were even a few pantry items, so we suggest checking in and assessing what is on hand before doing any shopping. We appreciated the eco touches (like solar panels, recycling, and composting). And every interaction with the Salt Water Vacations team was excellent! They are friendly, professional, and quick to respond. We would definitely stay here again!

An Oasis!
Pulling into this beautiful driveway will give you the feeling that you have hit the jackpot! The gated property was immaculate, the pool and hot tub were better than as pictured on the listing! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook for our family of 5 and the rooms were perfect. The yard is private, surrounded by a thick hedge of palms and dripping in orchards and flowers. I can’t recommend this property enough. The only downside is that our kids loved it so much they just wanted to go back to the house instead of explore lol Great trip, great place!

Great stay
Property is well maintained and clean. Stayed at the property for the annual Merrie Monarch Festival. Although it's quite a long drive into Hilo town we didn't mind at all. It was nice to stay in an isolate and quite area after dealing with the daily hustle and bustle of Merrie Monarch crowds, craft fairs attendees, shopping centers, vendors, etc. The amenity of a pool and hot tub made the decompression time way relaxing after tackling busy schedules, daily.

Beautiful home in paradise.
The Paradise Retreat is everything advertised and more. The location is serene, beautiful, and removed from the hustle and bustle of life. The house is fully equipped with all the modern conveniences and comforts; and clean as a whistle. We loved the kitchen in particular. The lanai, swimming pool, hot tub, and yard are awesome and very private and restful. We had a wonderful time in the surrounding community. Hilo is a great town and loved the proximity to the volcanoes national park. This is definitely a 5 star plus vacation home.

Amazing time in Hawaii
We were travelling with our kids and grandparents and were not disappointed with this house. The backyard is very big. Lots of grass space to play games such as football, frisbee, bocce etc. The pool is a great size with different sitting areas and the hot tub is a nice added bonus. The inside of the house was clean and spacious and had everything we needed with nice appliances. Thank goodness for A/C! We also liked the board games. The neighborhood is nice. We had a great time and could have stayed longer... Thank you!

AMAZING piece of paradise!
The pictures don’t do this house justice. We stayed at 4 places between Oahu & the Big Island. This one was by far everyone’s favorite. The house is beautiful, well stocked, spacious, and private. We loved the pool, hot tub, cooking in the kitchen (and grill), and playing games at the table. The house isn’t right next to anything but a short drive to Hilo (20-30min) Rainbow Falls and Richardson Beach Park. A little further to Volcanoes National Park or Akaka Falls (45min) and Punalu’uhawa Black Sand Beach (1.5hr). We swam with turtles, hiked, went to the Farmers Market for souvenirs snd fruit, and visited waterfalls. This area will remain one of my favorite places ever. Book this house, it’s worth every bit!!!

Absolute Paradise
I can't recommend this property enough! If you're looking to do some touristy activities but also be away from the hustle and bustle of the normal resorts, this is the place for you! We had a fantastic time learning about the culture, exploring farmers markets, and seeing all the wildlife. The rental was spotless, the location allowed us to get to the more touristy side of the island, and the views are breathtaking!

Everything was fantastic!
We loved our stay. The house was spotless, well appointed and so comfortable. The kids swam in the pool every chance they got and we loved the frog song at night. The little gecko visitors were welcome and hung out around the porch, I’m sure keeping more pesky bugs at bay! The host was super responsive and had great communication! We would absolutely stay here again.

Amazing House
This house is so great. I have never stayed in a place so clean. The inductions stovetop made cooking quick and easy. The pool was warm, so my kids were even swimming at 8 am. The garden is lovely with pineapples and tons of lovely local flowers. There was a nice amount of games, picnic supplies, flashlights (for volcano hiking), and pool toys. The only thing to be aware of is that the two bedrooms (twin/queen beds) do not have AC. Even with the fans, we found it hard to cool them down well, especially in the afternoon (AC units are in the kitchen and master bedrooms). The only reason I gave 4 stars for location is that Paradise park is about 15 minutes from even the nearest store, so lots of driving. Hands down one of the best places we have ever rented (and we’ve rented a lot of properties in the past)!
