What a lovely cottage! The photos do not do it justice--big spacious double bedrooms with very comfy beds and a cute single, two roomy living rooms both with ample seating and cosy log burners, a delightful garden and wonderful artful details throughout (hues of blue everywhere: from the selection of mugs on the wall, dishes in the cupboard, simple framed postcards, and stacks of books on the bedside tables which are also all cleverly sea or sleep-themed) made it a wonderful space for our group of 5 plus our labrador. The location is just brilliant too. Gwinear is a quiet traditional local village perfectly located just a few minutes up the hill and seemingly miles away from the traffic. Within a ten minute drive you have access to stunning coast with walks to and beyond Godrevy Lighthouse where you can spot seals (recommend the National Trust cafe in the car park) and to the Upton Towans Nature Reserve with its fantastic network of dunes (free parking and great for dogs and kids!) leading to the three miles of gorgeous unspoilt beaches of Hayle/Upton Towans. So many other beautiful spots in SW Cornwall are within an easy drive as you are beautifully positioned to reach either coast. We had a fab day out exploring St. Michael's Mount and the coastal villages along the way to the magical Minack Theatre (Penzance, Newlyn, Mousehole) where we bundled up and enjoyed the first of the season's productions. Another day we hiked around the whole end of the Lizard Peninsula rewarded with glorious scenery, pasties at Kynance Cove and cream tea at Lizard Point--very easy hike, just the bit from Church Cove (darling!) along to Marconi's Wireless Hut, the RNLI station (very cool!) and back to the Lighthouse is steep in parts. We thoroughly enjoyed St. Ives too with its lovely galleries and shops--and one day my husband took the kids out on a fishing trip and brought home mackeral for dinner! My husband and I also tackled the Zennor to St. Ives section of the SW Coastal Path--3-4 hours of breathtaking views and a very good leg workout! We have come home refreshed and inspired by all the beauty of Britain--a wonderful pick-me-up after the long grey winter! Thank you Chrissy!
